Strain Gage Measurements on Plastics and Composites
The bonded resistance strain gage, which is central to the topics treated here, was invented in the late 1930's and is now at about the mid-century mark in its career. During the first fifty years of its existence, the strain gage has been applied to virtually every known load-bearing material – ranging from asphalt to zirconium, and missing few, if any, of the letters in between. Whether the m...
متن کاملResistivity Characteristics of Piezoresistive Based Transduction Tactile Sensing Using Pressure Sensitive Conductive Rubber Sheet
This paper presents the development of a tactile sensor based on pressure sensitive conductive rubber and outlines the resistance measurements performance. This sensor is specially designed for a robotic hand developed at UiTM Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. It exhibits piezoresistive like behaviour whose resistance change with force/pressure enables its applications as tactile sensor. The o...
متن کاملPreparation and Characteristics of Paper-based Biodegradable Plastics
The aim of this work was to make biodegradable plastics from renewable resources. Paper-based biodegradable plastics were produced via a sol-gel process by using zinc chloride solution. The optimum conditions were a zinc chloride concentration of 65%, reaction temperature of 70 °C, reaction time of 5 s, aging time of 3 h, and glycerol concentration of 10%. Fourier transform infrared spectroscop...
متن کاملWireless Strain Sensing Networks
Our goal was to demonstrate a wireless communications system capable of simultaneous, high speed data communications, particularly adapted for use with conventional foil strain gauges. We have previously described data logging transceiver nodes capable of 2K samples/second/channel data rates. However, only one node may stream data at a time, since all nodes on the network share the communicatio...
متن کاملElectrochemical current-sensing atomic force microscopy in conductive solutions.
Insulated atomic force microscopy probes carrying gold conductive tips were fabricated and employed as bifunctional force and current sensors in electrolyte solutions under electrochemical potential control. The application of the probes for current-sensing imaging, force and current-distance spectroscopy as well as scanning electrochemical microscopy experiments was demonstrated.
